Challenge:

RD Petroleum is a company based in New Zealand that markets and distributes bulk fuel, lubricants and petroleum related products to the rural, residential and commercial sectors.

RD Petroleum worked on upgrades in August 2018 to their aviation fuel site at Franz Josef Glacier. As Part of the upgrade there was need to replace the five smaller existing tanks to one premium tank. The SuperVault tank was chosen and commissioned to the site and needed to be transported from our facility at Bromley, on the East Coast of New Zealand, to the Franz Josef Glacier on the West Coast of New Zealand.

Compliance Above Ground Fuel Tanks - Other Parts Of the world

Solution:

The tank for the customer was a custom made SuperVault aviation tank. Our technical guru John Garside worked with the team at RD Petroleum to ensure a compliant solution was achieved. Included in the creation of the SuperVault was a marine grade aluminium steel walkway which is visible on the top of the tank.

Result:

The result was successfully getting the tank on site, which went surprisingly well, considering the size and scale of the operation. The 60,000 litre SuperVault tank is now secured and has replaced the five individual tanks around the site, providing both an economical and environmental solution. The site itself has a number of helicopter pads and is in high demand with regular aviation tour operators stopping there regularly between trips. Installing the eight pumps and allowing Carnet Card access (for RD Customers) has made it easier for customers to access, operate and refuel in Franz Josef.
